3 Wedding Superstitions You Can Comfortably Ignore

When it comes to weddings, there are some superstitions and omens both good and bad, that have come down with practice over the years. Here at Bluff Mountain Inn, we believe that your wedding should be about you and that means that you can do away with some of the wedding-related superstitions when it comes to yours. You can also tweak some of them if you wish. Here’s a list of 3 wedding superstitions that you can do away with when it comes to your wedding.

  • You Can’t See Each Other Before the Wedding

In the distant past, couples weren’t allowed to see each other until the last minute so that the groom didn’t have a chance to change his mind. Weird right? This somehow led to the superstition of it being bad luck for the groom to see his bride before the ceremony on the wedding day. Some couples flaunt this rule because a first look photoshoot is a great addition to the wedding album and all the emotions involved can be displayed in private first. This could help calm your nerves before your wedding. If you ask us our answer would be, do what makes you happy!

  • You’re Doomed If You Drop the Ring

According to this superstition, whoever dropped the ring during the ceremony would die. Dramatic right? We don’t think anybody is doomed if they’re nervous and drop the rings. All that would happen would be a little stress required to find and pick them back up. That being said, it would probably be best to be careful when handling the rings to your ring bearer if they are quite young. The bands should be tied tightly and the ring pillow should get to him just before he walks down the aisle.

  • You Must Carry the Bride Over the Threshold

The ancient Romans believed that this one protected the bride from evil spirits. We believe that you can do this one for fun when you come back from your honeymoon or better still, walk-in hand-in-hand to celebrate your new life together.

You can hold your dream wedding with us here at Bluff Mountain Inn. We’re located in Sevierville, Tennessee and would love to hear from you. Give us a call today!
