If you have been assigned with the planning
of a bridal shower, you surely want to make sure it turns out amazing- both for
the bride, and for everyone else invited too.
What is the etiquette surrounding
bridal showers, though? What are some of the rules you still have to follow
today, in 2019?
We have some tips for you – keep reading
and find out more.
Who throws the party? Well,
most of the times, the maid of honor is tasked with this assignment – and she
will most likely plan the bridal shower together with the other bridesmaids and
maybe even other friends of the bride. Whatever you do though, don’t leave this
in the hands of the bride – not only does she have a lot of things to handle
for the Big Day, but it is considered rude for a bride to plan her bridal
shower (because some people might perceive it as a way for her to ask for
Who pays for the party? Well,
whoever hosts the party pays for it as well. It is not uncommon, however, that
multiple people participate in the paying of the bridal shower – e.g. all the
bridesmaids, the bride’s mother, and so on.
How large should it be? Not
very large. In fact, the bridal shower is considered to be an intimate event,
and the focus should obviously lie on the bride. Therefore, the guest list
should only include close relatives and friends. And yes, you can totally invite
men as well, especially if they are close to the bride. You might want to skip
children from the invitation list, however, if you want to make sure the bride
and her friends will actually have time to enjoy themselves without worrying
the little ones might get in trouble.
Should there be a theme and a
dress code? Well, yes, especially if you want this to be a very special bridal
shower. It doesn’t have to be something really fancy – you can just ask people
to dress in pastel colors, for example.

invitations are very important – not because a piece of paper will make or
break your wedding, but because they are the first glimpse your guests will get
into your wedding. Therefore, you want to impress them and make them actually
want to come and party for your love story.
What are some of the essential tips you
should keep in mind when it comes to wedding invitation etiquette, though? Read
on and find out more!
Yes, it is perfectly acceptable
and actually recommended to include a map, GPS locations, and other
instructions to help your guests find the venue. Sprinkle your map with
interesting attractions and restaurants your guests might want to check out
(when the wedding is not happening, of course) – people will love that!
You can and should include a
wedding website card too. This little enclosure can save you from so much
trouble! Not only will you be able to publish any wedding-related news there,
but you will be able to announce the hotel reservations, post pictures from the
“making of” the wedding and, yes, you will be able to lead guests towards your
wedding registry as well.
NO, you cannot include wedding
registry info on any of the invitation enclosures. This is considered to be bad
manners and it should definitely be avoided at all times. It’s much better to
do this only on the wedding website and/or by word of mouth.
DO include RSVP cards and DO
make sure you make them clear. For instance, if children are not invited to the
wedding, you can clearly specify Mr. and Mrs. on the RSVPs (instead of “and
family”). Also, if you see guests are not sending back their RSVPs by the
deadline, it is quite OK to call them and ask them if they will be able to make
it to the wedding. It is understandable if some of them can’t make it, but even
so, you need to collect a final head count – so yes, they will definitely
understand why you need to call them.

You might feel tempted to forget about the
rehearsal dinner or plan something that is not very exciting, but that’s not
always the best idea.
In fact, the rehearsal dinner is much more
important than many give it credit for. This pre-wedding event will bring your
closest friends and relatives together and it will help them bond before the
Big Day, so that they can feel better on the actual wedding day (and so
that they can work better together and help you create the dream wedding you
want so much).
How to make sure your rehearsal dinner is
lovely? Here are some tips for you to keep in mind:
It starts with the guest list. You
don’t have to go over the top here – in 99% of the cases only the wedding party
and the very close family is invited. Or, better said, the most important VIPS
of the Big Day get to be invited to the rehearsal dinner (because, well, they
need to rehearse). If you have out of
town guests who might be in town already, invite them as well – it’s a nice
gesture for them, given that they have gone a long way to be present on your special
Location, food, drinks, décor…
yes, you need to handle these as well. The best part about it is that things
can be really casual – a backyard garden dinner filled with comfort foods, two
or three types of drinks, and simple, but pretty décor. If you want to, pick a
theme for this party as well – it will help you bring everything together in a
cohesive and aesthetically pleasing way. As for music, stick to energizing and
positive songs – but not necessarily the kind that invite people to the dance
Stick to the early version. Not
only will you save more money by being an early bird and starting your
rehearsal dinner at 5 pm, but it will also allow you with plenty of time to
tuck yourself into bed early. You need plenty of rest before the Big Day – so
why not wrap it all up before 10 and retreat for a night full of rest (or,

Weddings are quite expensive – so it’s understandable
why many couples want to save as much money as possible.
Is that possible without sacrificing the beauty and
the dreaminess of your Big Day, though?
Well, yes, you can actually have a gorgeous wedding
when running on a small budget too – it’s all in the details.
For instance, if you swap certain elements of your wedding
with others that are less costly, you can save quite a lot of money. Here are
Don’t buy a dress made for you.
Wedding dresses can be really pricy, and if you order one that was made
especially for you, the price can grow even more. Sample sales and gently worn
gowns are an excellent option for those of you who want to wear a beautiful
designer gown without breaking the bank.
Don’t buy new accessories. The
jewelry, the shoes, the veil – they can all add up to the price you pay for the
bridal look. Why not swap them with something that’s much less expensive and a lot more sentimental, like
heirloom accessories (e.g. the veil your mother wore on her wedding day and the
earrings your grandma wore on her wedding day)? It’s such a nice way to honor
your loved ones and bring them even closer to you on a very special moment in
Individual wedding menus and
day-of stationery. OK, etiquette dictates that it isn’t a good idea to send out
online invitations to your wedding (you can, however, send them for the
pre-wedding events such as the bridal shower, for example). But when it comes
to day-of stationery, you have a lot more freedom – so why spend a small
fortune on individual wedding menus when you can create table signs for each of
these categories? Not only will this look more interesting (a menu written on a
chalkboard, for example), but it will also save you important sums of money.
Table décor for the wedding
reception. Sure, you may not want to leave your tables bare, but why not
repurpose the ceremony florals to use them on the wedding tables, for example?
For instance, the garlands used to decorate the aisles can then be placed on
the tables as floral table runner – they look fantastic, they are trendy, they
save you money, and they are friendlier with the environment too!

for your wedding reception, though?

Indoor décor for outdoor
weddings. Spring is almost here, so this means that some of you might already
be planning an outdoor wedding. Why not decorate it in an opulent style, like
an indoor event? Chandeliers, hanging florals, and crystals can make your
garden wedding pop with style and uniqueness in a truly beautiful way. You
don’t even have to go over the top if you like minimalism – just bring out the
most basic pieces of indoor wedding décor and you will create something that
Rose gold. Who doesn’t love it?
Luxurious and romantic at the same time, rose gold looks flawless in almost
every wedding style: very elegant, very casual, rustic, and so on. In 2019,
rose gold will continue its ascension to power, and you should definitely make
sure to delight your guests with this beautiful metal at your wedding.
Daring colors. This year feels
like an explosion of color. With Living Coral at the center of the wedding
color schemes of the world, trends are saying that color combinations should be
bold and daring in 2019. Think out of the box and combine colors that create a
striking effect – one that will be highly energizing and youthful!
Geode motifs. Geode
wedding themes can look absolutely stunning, but you don’t have to settle
for the actual theme to be able to use one motif. For instance, a geode
inspired wedding cake can look breathtaking and it will definitely be
appreciated for its uniqueness and elegance.
Choreographed dances. If you
want your First Dance to be really special, create a unique choreography for
it. We guarantee people will actually enjoy watching the two of you have fun on
the dance floor together!
