  • How large should it be? Not very large. In fact, the bridal shower is considered to be an intimate event, and the focus should obviously lie on the bride. What are some of the essential tips you should keep in mind when it comes to wedding invitation etiquette, though? Read on and find out more!

  • Yes, it is perfectly acceptable and actually recommended to include a map, GPS locations, and other instructions to help your guests find the venue. Sprinkle your map with interesting attractions and restaurants your guests might want to check out (when the wedding is not happening, of course) – people will love that!
  • You can and should include a wedding website card too. This little enclosure can save you from so much trouble! Not only will you be able to publish any wedding-related news there, but you will be able to announce the hotel reservations, post pictures from the “making of” the wedding and, yes, you will be able to lead guests towards your wedding registry as well.

  • DO include RSVP cards and DO make sure you make them clear. For instance, if children are not invited to the wedding, you can clearly specify Mr. and Mrs. on the RSVPs (instead of “and family”). Also, if you see guests are not sending back their RSVPs by the deadline, it is quite OK to call them and ask them if they will be able to make it to the wedding. It is understandable if some of them can’t make it, but even so, you need to collect a final head count – so yes, they will definitely understand why you need to call them.

  • It starts with the guest list. You don’t have to go over the top here – in 99% of the cases only the wedding party and the very close family is invited. Or, better said, the most important VIPS of the Big Day get to be invited to the rehearsal dinner (because, well, they need to rehearse). If you have out of town guests who might be in town already, invite them as well – it’s a nice gesture for them, given that they have gone a long way to be present on your special day.
  • Location, food, drinks, décor… yes, you need to handle these as well. The best part about it is that things can be really casual – a backyard garden dinner filled with comfort foods, two or three types of drinks, and simple, but pretty décor. If you want to, pick a theme for this party as well – it will help you bring everything together in a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing way. As for music, stick to energizing and positive songs – but not necessarily the kind that invite people to the dance floor.
  • Stick to the early version.
